Woody Character
Woody is the family that reads as expensive without ever announcing itself. It opens dry — cedar, vetiver, the moment just after a match is struck — and then softens as it warms against skin, until what is left hours later is sandalwood and something close to smoke.
It is the least sweet of the four codes and by some distance the most persistent. Where floral lifts and citrus flashes, woody settles in. It is the reason a jacket still smells of someone three days after they last wore it.
Cold air suits it. The drier and sharper the evening, the further a woody scent travels — which is why these are the ones that come out of the cupboard in May and stay there until September.
